The First Day Is The Hardest

Today Sofie Hongyan had to go get her photo taken for her visa and go to the clinic for a medical exam.  Thankfully, we had until 10:30 this morning to get ready and out the door since the silly girl was up until 2am...and of course bright-eyed and bushy tailed at 7:30!  The reason this first day in Guangzhou is so hard for the kids is they have to be current on their immunizations before they can emigrate to the U.S.  Our poor sweetie had to get 5 shots...all at the same time and a T.B. test.  She was such a trooper!  The clinic was really chaotic - there must have been 50 families in there, many with crying babies.  Sofie was quiet for a bit and took it all in, then became her usual silly self and charmed the socks off all the doctors and nurses.  When it was her turn to get her shots, she cried for a minute and was playing and silly again in just a few minutes more.

We are so happy to be in Guangzhou!  It is really green and tropical here and the area we are staying in is very pedestrian with lots of shops and restaurants.  And the weather...ah!  We were so cooped up in the hotel in Hohhot because it was so darn cold.  Sofie was so happy and excited when we first stepped out of the hotel and felt that warm breeze on her face.

Sofie and Baba have really become like peas and carrots.  She is finally letting Brandon carry her when we are out.  I am listening to giggles and laughter right now as they play in the bedroom.

Good things: Sofie loves, loves, loves to ride in the stroller we bought...hooray!

  2. I think she is going to charm every person she meets for the rest of her life. Beautiful dress. She so loves clothes. Great about the stroller. Usually the plane will just throw them on for you free. At least I think that is what David and Kerri said. Our planes may be different. "LOOK AT BRANDON'S SMILE" !!!!!!! Love to all three.
