Believe it or not...

Sofie started back to school yesterday.  Only 10 days after her surgery!

The kid is amazing.

A teeny tiny wheelchair was finally delivered Friday afternoon.  She jumped right in and figured it right out.

I've been staying at school with her to make sure she has the routine down and is getting around safely.  Needless to say, there are plenty of volunteer "helpers".

She is doing everything by herself now, including going potty, up and down the stairs with the walker on her lap, wheeling around school, scooting around on the floor at home and in class.

Sofie is also pretty much done with pain meds.  Only ibuprofen every now & then, mostly at night.

So to all of you who have been keeping in touch and asking for updates, she is doing GREAT!

Healing

Sofie is doing great - better each day.  She has a cast (pink of course!) up to the top of her thigh and it is bent at the knee, so not the most comfortable but she has adjusted.  She will wear it for 5 more weeks.

Shriner's sent us home with a little walker which she uses to get around the house.  We are waiting on a wheelchair which will help us get out and about and most importantly, back to school on Monday!

Update

Sofie's surgery went very well and she did great throughout it all.  We made it home yesterday evening and soon chants of "Home sweet home" rang out from a very happy little girl.

Surgery

We are off to Shriner's tomorrow for pre-op, then surgery on Thursday.  It is going to be a life-changing event for Sofie and she is going to do great.  But, it will be a tough couple of months for her.  So please keep her in your thoughts and prayers and send lots of positive energy...whatever it is you do...it will be much appreciated.

I am not sure if anyone still reads this blog...?  If so, would you kindly leave a comment so I will know to post updates on her surgery here?

Christmas

Santa was very good to Sofie...she got some new wheels!



She has had a blast with her Nana & Papa, aunts & uncles and cousin Andrew.
