A terrified...sad...very sick little girl walked (was carried really...dug her heels in...did not want to come in!) in to our hotel room in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia...

There was a lot of anger and grief and many tears at first...then suddenly a nap...
Soon after, a beautiful, silly, smart, sweet little girl emerged...

And has continued to flourish...
We've had our ups & downs, but not a day has gone by when we haven't felt so lucky and proud that we get to be her parents. We will spend this day, our "family day", just like any other day...by being happy we are together.

From the beginning what a determined girl. Right--dug her heels in, pulling backwards away from the door, hands up on door jam pushing away. What instinctive parents you were from the very beginning. You not reaching out for her immediately, having her "Goat" Show on and Brandon "Hey I better turn this off and put it down, its probably scaring her." Then the magic bubbles came out. I doubt you will EVER see that look on Sofie's face again. A meshing, merging of the heavens, and earth and all things good and meant to be,-- that has resulted in a fantastic, fabulous, family of THREE. Congratulations ! Love, Nana Joyce

ReplyDeleteThat's right...it has been a year! That's so hard to believe! I just realized that the nanny holding Sofie is the one that brought Luke. I need to email you! Sofie is such a beautiful little girl! Luke just saw me looking at her photo and he said, "Sofie cute, Mama". :) Happy Forever Family Day (a day late)! I wish you all many happy years together!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Tammy & family
Thanks for the kind words everyone! We had fun looking at all the photos and videos of our time in China and since. Sofie LOVES the bubble video...it is her favorite.
ReplyDeleteLooking at the photos made me realize I need to start using my "good camera" more and the camera on my Blackberry less! And to figure out how to better format on this blog! :)
With everything evolving at warp speed, it is amazing you even had time to snap a picture/video off. I think you have done an exemplary and interesting job of documentation from beginning to a slight pause up to this one year mark, to take a breath and forge ahead. Very well done Daughter-In- Law. Uncle Phil in the UK LIVED for your blog updates---you have no idea !!!
