Our Swimmer Girl

Up until a few weeks ago, Sofie was afraid of getting water on her head and face...to the point where she would completely freak out and run for a towel.  It was so bad I had to wash her hair with a wash cloth.  She loved the pool but would usually just splash around on the top step or go in with Mama if she could hold on tight or ride around on a raft with me.  We tried a swim vest, floaties and a little blow up ring, none of which she was interested in wearing.

Last weekend, Sofie & I worked on holding her breath, keeping her mouth closed and blowing air out of her nose if the water got near her face.  By the end of our swim she was jumping off the step and going completely under water.  She loved it!  I've seen her practicing in the the bath tub...adorable!

Today we busted out the floaties and again, she did not want anything to do with them.  I convinced her to try them and soon she was swimming...for the next two hours.  This is a child who had never seen a pool until a few months ago.  Such a brave girl!  Makes her Mama so proud...
