Up until a few weeks ago, Sofie was afraid of getting water on her head and face...to the point where she would completely freak out and run for a towel. It was so bad I had to wash her hair with a wash cloth. She loved the pool but would usually just splash around on the top step or go in with Mama if she could hold on tight or ride around on a raft with me. We tried a swim vest, floaties and a little blow up ring, none of which she was interested in wearing.
Last weekend, Sofie & I worked on holding her breath, keeping her mouth closed and blowing air out of her nose if the water got near her face. By the end of our swim she was jumping off the step and going completely under water. She loved it! I've seen her practicing in the the bath tub...adorable!
Today we busted out the floaties and again, she did not want anything to do with them. I convinced her to try them and soon she was swimming...for the next two hours. This is a child who had never seen a pool until a few months ago. Such a brave girl! Makes her Mama so proud...

Out and About in Sonoma
We spent our last day in California exploring the square and town of Sonoma before heading to Oakland to fly home. Of course Sofie had a blast and found many more opportunities for peek-shurz. We had a great trip!

Ode To Eggplant
We find lots of things to sing about in our house. Sofie was watching me prepare dinner last night - eggplant, which she loves (that's my girl!) and launched in to a song about Eggplant...

Mother's Day
Sunday was my first, long-awaited Mother's Day. Brandon made us all breakfast and we spent the day together playing games and watching movies. I was able to retreat to the media room for a few hours to watch a lady film I've been wanting to see. It was a great day...spent with the greatest gift of all.

Nana Mary Visits and A New Bike
My Mom came for a short visit this week to meet Sofie for the first time. I think they were both pretty smitten with each other...
Sofie also got a shiny new set of wheels and took it out for her first spin. She is still trying to figure out the pedals and steering, but just loves to tool around on it in the driveway...
What a great week for our little Silly Sofie! She is such a happy girl...
