Connections

Sofie's friend JJ and her parents Joe & Kim came over for a swim last weekend.  JJ was born in Inner Mongolia (Hohhot) just like Sofie.  There aren't many kids adopted from this part of China so we feel lucky to have connected with another family here in San Diego.  Much silliness ensued.  Aren't they adorable?

We hope you have a great weekend!

Happenings

We've been trying to get in to a routine since school started.  Sofie is only at school for a tad over 3 hours and the time flies by.  My original plan of getting a workout in, the cleaning/laundry/bills/grocery shopping/errands done while she is at school is not working out!  We have lunch when she gets home and it's been very unstructured after that.

So, we signed up for "Princess Ballet" once a week...yep.  I know.  Those of you who know her well will understand when I say she pretty much tried to take over and run the class!  Swim lessons start week after next...three times a week.

We had school picture day so we had to practice our silly faces...

Our backyard is finally done!  It hardly ever rains here and we wanted low maintenance, so we xeriscaped it.  And planted things that will feed us (citrus, avocado, olives) or critters like humming birds and butterflies.  We realized we selfishly left out a space for Sofie to play!  Now she has a pool and other backyard toys, but she loves to dig and play with the pebbles more than anything.

Sofie & I planted lots of herbs, peppers, cucumbers, eggplant and tomatoes in our grow bed

She also likes to play in the fountain

Sundays are all about football...go Chargers!

We hope you have a great weekend!

Last Weekend

We flew up to San Francisco to celebrate Papa's 70th birthday.  We spent time with (and Sofie got to meet) family we haven't seen in a long, long time.  A great time was had by all.  Thanks to Papa for making it happen!

We hope you had a wonderful birthday Papa!
